Samsung has taken a little swipe at Apple today by saying that they think that their AMOLED screen technology is superior to Apple’s new IPS LCD screen, which will be featured in the new iPhone 4.
According to a Samsung they believe that Apple’s high-res Retina display on the iPhone 4 only offers a slight improvement in sharpness over its own Galaxy S Super AMOLED screen – but more importantly uses a whopping 30% more power.
They also think the Samsung screen technology can produce better viewing angles and contrasts, concluding that “structurally, IPS LCD technology cannot catch up AMOLED display technology.”
Apple iPhone 4’s Retina display offers 960×640 resolution while the Samsung’s Galaxy offers 800×480 – so Apple’s new screen is slightly better but consumes a lot more power.
But Steve Jobs doesn’t see it like that and recently said “You can’t make an OLED display with this type of resolution right now. Retina display is going to set the standard for displays for the next several years. We don’t think anybody’s going to come close.”
Who do you think is the worthy winner? Apple or Samsung? Would you buy the iPhone 4 or the Samsung Galaxy S? Leave us a comment and let us know what you think…
