To be clear, we aren’t knocking Vanessa Hudgens—or any other celebrity, for that matter—for recognizing they need some sort of creative outlet that doesn’t include the stress of making movies. Oftentimes it’s a passion project—Gwyneth‘s Goop, Blake‘s Preserve (we hardly knew ye!), and Reese‘s Draper James, but in Hudgen’s case, it appears to be a pretty standard (if a tad amateur for a legit celebrity) blog called Astral & Opal.
It seems to have just launched, and includes such posts as “Boho Chic Christmas Gifts For $50 And Under,” “6 Music Festivals that Rock During Winter,” “What Are Your Spiritual Powers According To Your Birth Date?” “6 Ways to Cleanse Your Soul” and “10 Crop Tops You Can Make Work For Winter.”
There’s also a “letter from the editor”—Hudgens, who signs off as “Editor-in-Chief”—that reads as follows:
Welcome to Astral & Opal! I love surfing the web but nothing ever stuck with me. So, I thought it was time to create the site I needed in my life. As for me, I believe that life is as you make it. I want to feel good, look good and live a colorful life full of adventure. You are in the drivers seat, on an open road and only get one lifetime to make it count. We gotta live it to the fullest!
I hope Astral & Opal guides you to inspiration, passion, wisdom and makes your world a little more colorful. Enjoy!
Vanessa Hudgens, Editor-in-Chief, Astral & Opal
It’s worth noting that Hudgens isn’t exactly creating the content herself—the site is powered by FanBread, a company whose tagline is “Helping Influencers Build Media Brands” and lets blog owners choose posts, listicles, galleries, quizzes and memes from a content marketplace, and will also build the site for you and provide you with ways to make money via advertising and affiliate links.
